A new tool that will help our home decor project - Genmitsu 4040 PRO
The Start of Our Wood Sign Journey
After selling thousands of printed canvas wall art pieces, we’ve decided to take the next step: transitioning into real wood art and CNC-crafted signs.
This blog will serve as a behind the scenes documentation of the process and everything we learn along the way.

First Impressions
Right out of the box, I had a very positive impression. The machine feels robust, well-built, and surprisingly professional for its class.
However, it didn’t take long to realize that for the type of larger signs and wall art I want to produce, I would need two key upgrades:
- the 6060 extension kit
- a more powerful spindle
Learning the Workflow
While waiting for the parts to arrive, I spent time getting familiar with the machine and the software side of CNC work.
I’m genuinely glad I invested in Vectric. Once you get the hang of it, it feels like a complete and professional tool for designing and preparing CNC projects.
The Spindle Upgrade: Essential
The 710W spindle from Sainsmart is, in my opinion, a must-have upgrade for this machine. It cuts through wood effortlessly and immediately makes the whole setup feel far more capable.
The 6060 Extension: Some Downsides
On the other hand, the 6060 extension kit feels a bit like an afterthought.
A few issues stood out:
- Some parts are glued, making disassembly difficult
- The longer MDF boards tend to bow slightly in the middle
Fortunately, I was able to use leftover parts from the original 4040 setup to reinforce the frame, and now it’s working properly.
This is only the beginning, but the foundation is finally coming together. In the next post, I’m hoping to share the first real finished wooden signs and wall art pieces made on this machine.
